The 4HP14 gearbox has two types of dipstick; these gauges are interchangeable and Parts Division will now only supply the 2nd gauge (see below)

The oil level is checked at a constant temperature between a minimum and maximum (A)
2nd dipstick
The gauge has two minimum-maximum levels which depend on the temperature of the gearbox oil

- (C) minimum at 80 °C or maximum for a temperature between 50 and 35 ° C
- (D) minimum for a temperature between 50 and 35 ° C

- Heat the gearbox oil (or allow it to cool) so that it is between 35 and 50 ° C or 80 ° C

Move the selector lever 2 times from P to 1 stopping at each selection
Return the selector lever to position P

With the selector lever in position P, the oil level should be between the marks
- Minimum and maximum (A) for the 1st dipstick
- Minimum (C) and maximum (B) for the 2nd dipstick
