Дизельный двигатель 3 иллюстрации ~1 мин чтения

The OHC 16V diesel engine Y 22 DTR already known from the Vectra-B is now also featured in the Zafira.

The new technical features compared to the Y 22 DTR engine in the Vectra-B will be presented below.

Injection pump VP 44 PSG 16

The new radial-piston distributor injection pump with pre-injection with the designation VP 44 PSG 16 is featured for the first time.

This is a further development of the already known VP 44 versions.

The new technical features compared to the predecessor model are listed below:

  • Engine control unit integrated in the pump control unit
  • Additional output at the integrated engine control unit for the intake throttling function.

Additional inputs at the integrated engine control unit for the following functions:

  • EGR valve feedback
  • Oil pressure switch
  • Swirl feedback
  • Intake throttling feedback

Fuel cooling system

With the introduction of the Y 22 DTR engine in the Zafira, a system for fuel cooling is also featured.

The fuel heats up considerably due to the high pressures generated in a modern diesel injection system. This causes the fuel to expand, thus reducing the density of the fuel. This could lead to a loss of output. For this reason, fuel located in the return circuit above a temperature of +27 °C is cooled.

The thermoswitch valve fitted to the fuel tank conducts the fuel above a fuel temperature of +27 °C through the fuel radiator.

The fuel flows in the return circuit through the fuel radiator fitted on the vehicle underbody and is cooled there by the cooling fins placed longitudinally in the air stream.
