Subject:Coolant Temperature Sensor - Wiring harness connector poor contact
Models:Engines:Option:
Omega-B 1998...2002,Astra-G 1998...2000,Vectra-B 1998...2000Z22XE| Y22XE| X20XEV,X20XER| X20XEV| Z20LET,X20XEV
Complaint:Engine jerking may occur while driving and while rough idling engine may stall. Engine - poor start ability.
Cause:Vibrations at connector of coolant temperature sensor cause contact problems.
Production:

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint replace the wiring harness of coolant temperature sensor and replace mating connector on the wiring harness.

Working Procedure:

Note:

On account of new gold contacts on the coolant temperature sensor, it is necessary to use gold plated connector contacts on the mating connector.

I. Coolant temperature sensor Omega-B II. Coolant temperature sensor Astra-G, Vectra-B

I. Coolant temperature sensor Omega-B

1. Replace coolant temperature sensor

- see working procedure "Coolant temperature sensor, remove and install", group "J", Service Instruction Omega-B.

2. Electrically sepparate and uncover the wiring harness on manual transmission (picture I).

4. Electrically sepparate wiring harness (picture III).

· Sensor - oxygen exhaust (6) · Sensor - coolant temperature (7) · Sensor - temperature (8)

5. Pull out the wiring harness a little bit until the wiring harness connector coolant temperature is good accessible (picture IV).

6. Remove insulation and uncover grooved tube and wiring harness sensor coolant temperature (picture V).

7. Cut one cable of wiring harness coolant temperature sensor on a length of 110 mm, cut second cable of wiring harness coolant temperature sensor on a length of 150 mm, with diagonal cutting pliers (picture VI).

8. Allocate cable, mark and plug it on the wiring harness connector coolant temperature connector.

Note:

At vehicle with dust cover on the wiring harness connector coolant temperature sensor, reuse it for new wiring harness connector.

9. Strip cable approximately 8 mm.

10. Put shrink sleeve over both cables and crimp cable ends with crimping tool MKM-923-31 on marked place (picture VII).

11. Put shrink sleeves over connections and heat it up with hot-air blower (picture VIII).

12. Insulate complete wiring harness (picture IX).

II. Coolant temperature sensor Astra-G, Vectra-B

1. Use for Vectra-B, Astra-G X20XEV, X20XER, Z20LET the instruction of Omega-B (picture X, shows the grouping of building components).
