| Complaint: | Some turbo charger have been damaged (shaft fracture) because of over speed of the turbo charger shaft. In some cases DTC: P0235 (11) was set. |

| Cause: | Due to fleece inlay of the air cleaner element (Partno.: 93177663 / Catalogueno.: 08 35 631) the intake pressure drop might increase, causing the turbo charger to speed up in order to meet the torque requirement made by the customer. Investigations revealed that this will lead to another 10.000 rpm for the turbo charger and might damage the shaft. |
| Production: | Change to air cleaner element w/o fleece inlay. Running change was done in March 2004, no vehicle BP was fixed. |
Check air filter element next time your customer comes in. If an air cleaner element with fleece inlay is installed (Partno.: 93177663 / Catalogueno.: 08 35 631)please change to an air cleaner element without fleece (Partno.: 93172461 / Catalogueno.: 08 35 036).
