Thermostat - Coolant leakage between thermostat unit and cylinder head Opel Movano A

Field Remedy: 1428

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint replace the seal between thermostat unit and cylinder head.

1. Remove air filter unit and cylinder head top cover

– see working procedure ”gasket, cylinder head cover, replace – S8U”, group "J", Service Instruction Movano.

2. Remove coolant hoses between radiator and thermostat unit – collect the coolant.

3. Separate the coolant hoses and connectors on the thermostat unit.

4. Remove thermostat unit from cylinder head.

5. Clean thermostat unit surface and cylinder head surface.

6. Clean and degrease sealing surface of cylinder head cover and timing cover.

Note:

Clean and degrease so that all traces of original paste are removed.

7. Install thermostat unit with new seal on the cylinder head – torque: 25 Nm.

8. Install coolant hoses.

9. Apply a fine band of silicon to the mating faces between thermostat unit and cylinder head.

10. Install air filter unit and cylinder head top cover

– see working procedure "gasket, cylinder head cover, replace – S8U", group "J", Service Instruction Movano.

11. Top up the coolant and bleed the whole cooling system.

12. Warm up engine to operating temperature.

13. Check the thermostat unit and the cylinder head cover for leaks.
