No power assistance up to approx., 20s after engine start.
Cause:
Battery is not fully charged, mainly vehicles with X16SZR engine with the 70 A alternator are involved.
Due to a voltage drop (< 9V during starting) the control unit of the EHPS switches in a failsafe mode.
As soon as the voltage exceeds 10,5V when engine is running the control unit switches back to the normal operating condition however, the pump speed increases slowly within 20s.
Production Solution:
Modified software implemented in CW 18 /98.
The control unit recognizes the starting of the engine and will not switch in failsafe mode.
