Remedy:

In case of customer complaint a blind rivet has to be installed to the left and right inner panel C-Pillar and roof cross member.

Working Procedure:

Note:

The working procedure for installation of the blind rivet is described for the left side. Opperate for the right side corresponding with the left side.

1. Remove left and right head airbag

– see working procedure "Head Airbag, Remove and Install (Model F 68, F 69)", group "C", Service Instruction Vectra-C.

2. Cover rear seat with foil. 3. Measure and mark position for blind rivet (picture I).

Measure I: Mark 9mm from lower edge of metall sheet up to the radius/metall sheet edge. Measure II: Measure back 16mm from radius/metall sheet edge and mark it.

4. Center punch the position of the bore. 5. Drill a hole for the blind rivet (diameter 5mm).

Important:

Use drill stop (maximum depth 10mm). Remove drill chips while drilling with a vacuum cleaner (2. technician required).

6. Countersink bore. 7. Apply corrosion protection to bore hole. 8. Install blind rivet (picture II).

Note:

For the right side repeat work steps "3" to "8".

9. Install left and right head airbag

– see working procedure "Head Airbag, Remove and Install (Model F 68, F 69)", group "C", Service Instruction Vectra-C.

10. Remove foil from rear seat. 11. Clean rear seat and rear legroom.
