Headlamp main-beam /Indicator switch

Condition:
A relatively high number of headlamp main-beam/indicator switches are being replaced under warranty. When these switches are being tested at the Warranty Material Return Centre, a high proportion cannot be faulted.
The description of the problem on the RTF label of these switches is most often either, intermittently, headlamp main-beam stays on after operating headlamp flash and indicators intermittently, do not cancel. If a customer complains of either of the above or similar intermittent faults, the switch must not be replaced unless the problem can be repeated.

All component(s) fitted under warranty could be requested for return to the Warranty Material Return Centre, if after examination the components are found to be ‘No Fault Found’ then the component(s) could be returned and your account debited accordingly.
Many customers operate the headlamp flash and release the lever forceably, the lever then goes to the full beam position. This is not a fault as long as the headlamps operate correctly when the switch is operated normally. The indicators intermittently cancelling is often only caused when the vehicle did not turn through a great enough angle for the indicators to cancel.
If a customer complains of either headlamp main-beam or indicator problems the system should be checked thoroughly before replacing the switch assembly. All headlamp main-beam / indicator switches that are found not to be faulty, will be rejected under warranty and the retailer debited accordingly
