Headlamps with xenon low beam technology are available as optional equipment. The xenon light road illumination (gas discharge lamp), which is similar to daylight, corresponds to our natural vision and therefore permits driving conditions which are less tiring and more relaxed than with conventional headlamp systems. Constant illumination is provided in all driving situations through the integrated automatic headlamp range control and the high-pressure washer system.
The headlamp system with xenon low beam consists of the following components:
- Ellipsoidal headlamps with xenon lamps for low beam (type D2S) and xenon control unit
- High beam with H7 halogen single-filament bulb
- Automatic range control (sensor between rear axle and vehicle underbody)
- High-pressure washer system
