Remedy:
In case of customer complaint remove the spring of oil reservoir electro-hydraulic power steering.
Working Procedure:
Note:
For appearance of trouble no steering refering trouble code will be set.
For the following procedure of electro-hydraulic power steering a new fastening screw for subframe is required.
1. Disconnect battery. 2. Remove front paneling
- see working procedure "Front Paneling, Remove and Install", group "A", Service Instruction Vectra-C.
3. Remove lower engine compartment cover or ribbed V-belt cover. 4. Remove wiring harness connector power steering (picture I).
5. Loosen fixing screw of bracket electro-hydraulic power steering on subframe and remove appr. 15 - 20 mm (picture II).
Note:
During following operation the screw holds the bracket of electro- hydaulic power steering.
6. Remove 2 screws of electro-hydraulic power steering (picture III).
7. Put down bracket electro-hydraulic power steering until access to cover is ensured. 8. Remove cover and strainer. 9. Remove hydraulic oil of reservoir with suitable pump.
Note:
Remove appr. the half of content of reservior.
10. Make a little hook on a fine wire (0,5 - 0,8 mm diameter), in a way that the hook fits into the opening of the checkvalve.
11. Remove spring out of checkvalve with curved wire (picture V).
Note:
Introduce a curved wire appr. 4 mm into the opening of Checkvalve and catch a winding of the spring by rotating the wire. Raise the spring carefully, use a pointed pliers to catch if necessary and remove spring.
Attention:
Spring must be removed of oil reservoir electro-hydraulic power steering. If the spring fells into the reservoir, the electro-hydraulic power steering must be removed and turned round to remove the spring out of reservoir. If the wire can not removed from the reservior, the electro- hydraulic power steering has to be replaced.
- see working procedure "Electro-hydraulic Supply Unit, Remove and Install", group "M", Service Instruction Vectra-C.
12. Fill up the reservior with hydraulic oil to max. (mark). 13. Fit strainer and cover. 14. Fit 2 screws of electro-hydraulic power steering - Torque 20Nm. 15. Replace screw on subframe by a new one - Torque 100Nm + 90° + 15°. 16. Remove lower engine compartment cover or ribbed V-belt cover. 17. Install front paneling
- see working procedure "Front Paneling, Remove and Install", group "A", Service Instruction Vectra-C.
18. Connect battery. 19. Implement a function check of power steering. 20. Program volatile memories.
