| Complaint: | Rattle noise side glasses with opened soft top. |
|---|---|
| Cause: | Gap between front door glass and sealing of rear glass not correct. |
| Production: | As of VIN W0L0TGF67 3 B 001866 (produced 24. Sept. 2002) the position of the rear glass is moved outwards. |
Remedy:
In case of customer complaint, perform following activity:
Step 1: Open soft top and check gap between rear side glass and front door glass: A: OK condition, 1: rear side glas, 2: front door glas B: NOK condition
If front glass is not in contact with the rear side glass sealing, operate as follows: - Remove the plastic cap on the lower part of door. - Mark with felt-pen the original position of the channel. - Loosen the two screws and move the rear channel outwards in order to preload the window glass upper.
- Tighten the screws and check if the front door glass is in contact with the sealing of rear side glass. - Check the rear glass overlapping vs front glass, with closed soft top in this way : a) Pull down door glass by 40 mm then move the rear glass up/down. b) Rear glass closed: pull down /up door glass.
If after step 1 the noise is still present or you notice overlapping between the two glasses, the rear channel must be put in the original position and procede to step 2 as following:
Step 2: - Open the soft top - Remove rear seat cushion and seat backrest - Remove side trim panel - Loosen the upper lock nuts (right side only) - Turn adjusting screws counter clockwise and move window regulator to achieve contact between front/rear glass.
Re-check with closed soft top that there is no overlapping between them, as already explained in previous point: If during this check you notice overlapping between the two glasses, we suggest to pull down rear side glass by 28 mm, cut a cross in the waterproof foil in the lower area and loosen the central lock nut than turn the adjusting srew counter clockwise in order to move the rear glass inwards.
Note: Glue the cut area with adhesive tape. In case you remove the waterproof foil a new one must be used to avoid water ingress.
Re-check as for points a) and b) before reinstalling the removed parts.
