| Complaint: | Whistling noise from turbocharger. This noise normally occurs during the boost phase. |

| Cause: | Exhaust manifold gasket leaky. Exhaust manifold needs to be removed and checked. There is no need to replace the turbocharger! |
| Production: | 1) Introduction of 2.5-layer-gasket (55351605 / 08 49 213) with engine number 17D68955 (September 2002). 2) Introduction of new exhaust manifold (24442866 / 08 49 155) with engine number 17A86523 (August 2001). |
Remedy:
In case of customer complaint replace exhaust manifold gasket or exhaust manifold if necessary.
