| Complaint: | Hesitation while driving around between 40 - 80 km/h with constant speed. While accelerating the engine hesitates up to the 3000 RPM. Also during deceleration the engine hesitates. Above 120 km/h there are no driving problems. Sometimes DTC P0400 or P1405 is set. |

| Production: | As of production date 24392 all EGR valves are OK. |
Remedy:
In case of complaints, please check first the production date.
Checking procedure:
View from above on the valve, connector in your direction, there you will find several number/letter combinations.
Example: 24392
Step 1:Check Delphi part-number (I) If the number is 00272, the EGR-valve is OK. If the number is 98055, continue with step 2.
Step 2: Read build date number (II) like 243 9 2. 243 9 2 | | | | | Shift:1 = 1. shift | | 2 = 2. shift | | | Build year:7 - 1997 | 8 - 1998 | 9 - 1999 | 0 - 2000 | Build day: 001-365
Step 3:Identify 4th digit (build year). If there is a "0", the EGR-valve is OK. If the number is "5" or "6" or "7" or "8", the EGR-valve is NOK. If there is a "9", continue with step 4!
Step 4:Check the 1st - 3rd digit (build day). If the number is from 244 to 365, the EGR-valve is OK. If the number is from 001 to 243, the EGR-valve is NOK.
Only if the EGR valve turns out to be NOK according to the checking procedure, replace EGR valve.

Removal and refit of EGR-valve is described in the Service- Instruction of Astra-G - see operation "EGR-valve, remove and install" in unit "L".
