Complaint:

Noises or Vibrations

Loud squeaking noise, when turning steering wheel.

Cause:

Airbag contact locking latch is chafing the box of the airbag contact unit.

Production Solution:

As of VIN W7152000 and W1285447 the problem has been rectified in production.

No

Remedy:

In case of complaint, attach a felt-dot(arrow) on the ramp of the steering hub.

Remove the steering wherel-see Service instruction "Remove and refit the steering wheel (vehicle with airbag till MY`98).

Attach the felt-dot(arrow).

Thickness: 0,5-1 mm

Diameter: 8-16 mm

Install the steering wheel.

The regular warrenty procedure should be used for claiming Set-up time.
