Condition:

Recent investigations have highlighted that many Astra-G are suffering from deformation of the door window weatherstrips, degrading the overall external appearance of the vehicle.

A modified production process is now in place at the build plants.

Upon Complaint, please replace any affected weatherstrips, using the following Service Instructions.

In order to ensure the correct fitment of the door window weatherstrips, please adhere to the following operations.

Operation - replace door window weatherstrips

Front Doors (All Body Styles)

· Remove door mirror

· Replace plastic B-pillar Clip (90 589 704)

· Apply glass cleaner (90 444 420) liberally to spot weld flange for lubrication purposes (Note: Do not use any soap based solutions, please only use the solutions specified in this bulletin)

· Apply adhesive to the inward facing edges of the plastic B-pillar clip, as shown in H2074 (We recommend the use of a commercially available, one component plastic - plastic instant adhesive such as Evostick Impact)

· Pre-install the new moulding by hand, starting at the B-pillar and proceed to the H2074 A-pillar

Important:

The use of any excessive force, particularly near to the centre of the moulding will result in permanent deformation of the moulding’s aluminium structure leading to the reappearance of the concern.

· Retain the moulding in position by assembly with the B-pillar clip and adhesive.

· Re-fit door mirror

Rear Doors - Hatchback

· Replace the plastic clips at the B-pillar (90 589 704)

· Install the metal ‘Raymond’ clip (H2074) at the C-pillar, below the rear 1/4 light window, in the position described by H2075, Ensuring that the open claws are inward facing (i.e. towards the glass)

· Apply thin strips of double sided tape (commercially available) between the metal clip and the window division post (as shown in H2075)

· Apply glass cleaner (90 444 420) liberally to spot weld flange for lubrication purposes (Note: Do not use any soap based solutions, please only use the solutions specified in this bulletin)

· Pre-install the new moulding by hand, at the B-pillar

· Pre-install the new moulding by hand, at the C-pillar

· Using a rubber mallet, gently strike along the moulding, working from the C-pillar to the centre, and then from the B-pillar to the centre

Important:

· Retain the moulding in position by assembly with the B-pillar clip and adhesive

Rear Doors - Estate

· Replace the plastic clips at the B and C-pillars (90 589 704)

Apply glass cleaner (90 444 420) liberally to spot weld flange for lubrication purposes

(Note: Do not use any soap based solutions, please only use the solutions specified in this bulletin)

· Apply adhesive to the inward facing edges of the plastic B-pillar and C-pillar clips, as shown in H2073 (We recommend the use of a commercially available, one component plastic - plastic instant adhesive such as Evostick Impact)

· Pre-install the new moulding by hand, at the B-pillar

· Pre-install the new moulding by hand, at the C-pillar

· Using a rubber mallet, gently strike along the moulding, working from the C-pillar to the centre, and then from the B-pillar to the centre

· Complete the installation of the moulding by working from the C-pillar towards the B-pillar with a rubber mallet.

Important:

The use of any excessive force, particularly near to the centre of the moulding will result in permanent deformation of the moulding’s aluminium structure leading to the reappearance of the concern.

· Retain the moulding in position by assembly with the B and C-pillar clips and adhesive (C-pillar clip, estate only)

The normal warranty procedures apply. Please use existing Labour Operation numbers to claim .

Note:

Additional expenditure incurred for the purchase of commercially available adhesive, can be claimed as a net item on a pro-rata basis.
