Warranty analysis has identified an increase in gearshift cable replacement. One trend already identified is for cable failure after a previously associated repair. Several of the cases investigated have had either a replacement transmission or clutch which should have involved disconnection of the cables or replacement of the selector roll-pins, QI-1582 or 04-FR-07 (UK only).
Please ensure that the recommended service procedures are always followed when performing any work where the gear cables may be disturbed. The engine support tool KM-6210 should be used where appropriate. If the necessity arises for removal of the LH engine mounting to facilitate a roll-pin replacement consideration should be given to disconnecting the cables if the transmission needs to be tilted downwards. Do not strain or bend the cables as this will lead to eventual failure.
