Subject:Body Control Module (BCM) - Incorrect Operation
Models:Engines:Option:
Vivaro 2001...2004AllAll
Complaint:Engine immobiliser indicator in the instrument panel does not turn off and car will not start unless vehicle battery is disconnected and reconnected. Mirror heating and heated rear window do not turn off leading to flat battery. Potential also exists to affecte various electrical systems that have BCM input.
Cause:BCM hardware prone to electrical over-stress and power inversion.
Production:New BCM installed on production from the following B/P's : W0LF7BBA54V605996 14/10/2003 Introduction of N1 BCM for vehicles without central door locking (93 853 271); W0LJ7CCA64V603020 18/09/2003 Introduction of N2 BCM for vehicles with central door locking (93 853 272); W0LF7ACA64V603257 18/09/2003 Introduction of N3 BCM for vehicles with central door locking and anti theft wanring system (93 853 273).

Remedy:

Note: This QI supersedes previous BCM communication (QI-1596)

In case of customer complaint replace current BCM with latest specification BCM. The suppliers part numbers are included in brackets to help identify the part currently fitted to the vehicle. There is no GM part number on the BCM itself. The numbers can be read from the white label on the BCM. All version BCM are potentially affected. The new partnumbers have diode protected circuits.

Old Partnumber New Partnumber New Cat.-No.

N1 (No CDL) 91 168 139 (8200156015) 93 853 271 (8200374947) 44 15 608 N2 (CDL only) 91 168 140 (8200156016) 93 853 272 (8200374949) 44 15 609 N3 (CDL+ATWS) 91 168 141 (8200156017) 93 853 273 (8200374951) 44 15 610

Note: If the BCM is replaced due to excess battery drain (possibility that heated mirrors or rear screen remain live once the ignition key has been removed) it is important that the main engine ECU relay K18 and the heated rear window relay K3 are replaced as they may fail from excess current draw. The K3 relay was originally incorrectly listed on EPC but is currently a yellow 40 amp relay serviced under part number 9 161 059 (45 00 759). The K18 relay is 9 161 026 (45 00 726)

Please also note if the BCM is fitted with the metal anti-theft bracket (Vauxhall only) this must be refitted with the new BCM and not disregarded.
