Condition:
Damage to the areas painted black on the B pillars at the front doors and sliding doors. Replacement of front and sliding doors previously equipped with adhesive foil.
General:
This Technical Information Bulletin describes the installation (wet adhesion) and replacement of adhesive foil with instructions for precise execution of adhesion.
Adhesive foil has the following advantages:
· Used on door shells (additional painting not required)
· Economical repair of paint damage
· Individual replacement of damaged adhesive foil
Note:
The Service department lists adhesive foil as individual parts for each front door and sliding door.
Operation (Service Installation):
· Front door: remove window weatherstrip. Sliding door: remove window and weatherstrip.
· Clean adhesion surface (silicone remover) and touch up paint damage (paint stick).
· Remove protective backing (adhesive surface) and moisten adhesive side of soil with water (3 drops of washing - up liquid to 1 litre of mains water).
· Apply adhesive foil (1).
· Attach adhesive foil with spatula, without creases and air bubbles.
· Remove protective backing paper (transport protection).
· Dry adhesive foil with hot air dryer (maximum 60 °C / 140 °F) for approx. 2 minutes (maximum adhesion).
· Install weatherstrips.
Important:
Only process adhesive foil at temperatures above 18 °C / 64 °F.

Operation (Replacement of Adhesive Foil):
· Remove attaching parts. (see operation for service installation)
· Heat damaged foil with hot air dryer and remove.
