All of the above vehicle types as of MY '97 (identified by V in the . Ident. No.) for the following engines: OHC, and 6 petrol engines as well as the X 17 D diesel :
The replacement intervals for all vehicles manufactured as of MY '97 will be immediately increased to 120.000 km / 80.000 miles / 8 years as a result of data derived from recent research and conversion to an improved toothed belt material.
Exceptions: S and Frontera with X 22 XE engine. These vehicles are factory - fitted with toothed belts from another supplier. The replace - interval is 120, 000 km / 80, 000 miles / 8 years; however this presupposes a visual inspection 90, 000 km / 60, 000 miles / 6 years. The decision whether to replace the belts 90, 000 km / 60, 000 miles / 6 years or 120, 000 km / 80, 000 miles / 8 years depends upon the condition of the belts.
Important: The replacement of toothed belts must be documented using the usual toothed belt sticker, which is available from under Art. No. 95 178.

The previously released toothed belts remain valid for vehicles up to model year '97.
