Remedy:
In case of customer complaint replace wiring harness assy front in front panelling and mating connector by wiring harness repair kit.
The number of wires to be replaced depends on vehicle options:
Vehicle options: No. of wires:
Outer temperature sensor 2 wires Outer temperature sensor, fog lamps 6 wires Outer temperature sensor, park pilot 8 wires Outer temperature sensor, fog lamps, park pilot 12 wires
Insulate surplus wires.
Working procedure:
1. Disconnect battery. 2. Remove front panelling
- see working procedure “Front Trim, Detach and Attach”, group “A”, Service Instruction Vectra-C.
3. Expose the wiring harness assy front to the lower.
Note:
Remove 1 cable strap.
4. Remove ribbed plastic from wiring harness assy front up to the cable strap at body (Picture I, arrow).
5. Measure position of cut at the wiring harness assy front by using wiring harness repair kit as measurement and cut the wires (Picture II).
6. Strip end of wires to be connected with wiring harness repair kit by using MKM-6383. 7. Push heat-shrinkable tube over these wires. 8. Crimp end of wires to each other by using MKM-923-31 (Picture III, 1).
9. Slip heat-shrinkable tube over crimping and heat up by using a hot air gun.
Insulation of surplus wires on wiring harness repair kit:
10. Push two wires into heat-shrinkable tube up to 1cm before end of heat-shrinkable tube. 11. Heat up heat-shrinkable tube by using a hot air gun. 12. Compress end of heat-shrinkable tube with a flat clamp (Picture IV).
13. Bind wiring harness with textile tape together. 14. Install ribbed plastic to wiring harness. 15. Fix ribbed plastic with textile tape.
Replacement of wiring harness in front panelling
16. Remove left and right wiring harness plugs for sensor park pilot (Picture V, 4). 17. Remove left and right wiring harness plug for fog lamps (Picture V, 1). 18. Clip off cable straps left and right (Picture V, arrows). 19. Remove wiring harness plug for temperature sensor (Picture V, 3). 20. Clip off wiring harness from brackets (Picture V, 2).
21. Route new wiring harness. 22. Install left and right wiring harness plugs for sensor park pilot (see Picture V, 4). 23. Install left and right wiring harness plug for fog lamps (see Picture V, 1). 24. Install wiring harness plug for temperature sensor (see Picture V, 3). 25. Clip on cable straps left and right (see Picture V, arrows). 26. Clip on wiring harness in brackets (see Picture V, 2). 27. Install front panelling

28. Connect battery. 29. Program volatile memories.
